Shea Newport City Council Ward 2 Logo

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Shea Newport.

I'm running for City of Bella Vista, Arkansas City Council in Ward 2. My husband and I purchased our home in Bella Vista in 2021. I have lived in Northwest Arkansas since 2013. I currently serve as the president of the Bella Vista Market Foundation, which supports the Bella Vista Farmers and Makers Market. I am an active and informed voter, especially regarding our local elections.

I grew up in North Central Oklahoma and obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 2013. That same year, I moved to Northwest Arkansas to begin my career in trucking and transportation. I earned a Masters in Business Administration from John Brown University in 2016. I work for a major international shipping and logistics company in client management and business development capacities. In my role, I manage and negotiate large-sum multi-year business-to-business contracts, ensuring that all parties benefit and are well-represented.

I have a wonderful husband, Garrett, and we enjoy golfing, kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking together. We enjoy our POA membership, and you will likely find us out enjoying all available amenities!

PLATFORM

Responsible Development

The City of Bella Vista will weigh development proposals over the next few years. These initiatives must mesh well with our community and improve residents' quality of life.

Bella Vista Values

Bella Vistans choose to live in our beautiful town because of the natural beauty surrounding us. I will always advocate for peaceful, green spaces. We also love Bella Vista because it's safe and has a community feel with friendly neighbors. Keeping this spirit alive is vital.

Financial Stability

It's imperative that our city leaders are not just good but also transparent stewards of our tax dollars. Transparency is the cornerstone of trust and confidence in our city's leadership, ensuring that our tax dollars are used wisely and for the benefit of our community.

Supporting our Civil Servants

Bella Vista is a well-run city, and it's vital that our city employees, especially our police and fire departments, are supported so that we can continue to attract and retain top talent.

WHY I'M RIGHT FOR THE JOB

I’m an experienced problem solver.

My professional career presents consistent challenges in which I consider input from various stakeholders, research all prospective solutions, and use my judgment to implement a solution. I negotiate and oversee millions of dollars in my capacity. As a member of the City Council, I will be able to use this skillset to our advantage.

I thrive on building relationships.

I enjoy living in a community with others and getting to know my neighbors. I believe relationships are a central part of being a successful community representative.

I am committed to lifelong learning and have an MBA from John Brown University.

My natural curiosity is an excellent springboard to being a well-rounded citizen who contributes to her community. Dedicated to education, I will ensure I am well-informed on all issues I vote on.

WHAT ARE VOTERS SAYING

"You have my endorsement!"

What Ward am I in?

Each election cycle, Bella Vista voters select their preferred candidate for all 3 Wards. Ward boundaries come into play because of representation. To run and represent a particular ward, one must reside within the ward. Each council member serves a 4-year term until they are up for election again.
You can find a Ward Map at the link below, but remember each BV voter will vote for all 3 seats!

Who’s running?

All Bella Vista voters select their preferred candidate in each ward. The image below helps clarify which candidates are running for which seat.
